We all know that one guy who sneers at bipods. “Real marksmen shoot standing up,” he says. “Bench shooting is a waste of time.” With all due respect to that guy, he’s dead wrong.

To begin with, bench shooting is a good way to practice pure accuracy, without a lot of variables messing up your shot. It’s also a legitimate way to practice shooting from a deer stand. Finally, shooting with a bipod is just plain fun, whether from a bench or out in the field.

That’s why we’ve searched far and wide for the best AR-15 bipod. We’ve narrowed our list down to 14 models which we believe are the most reliable and easiest to use. Price was also a consideration, although we’ve included a few higher-priced options for people who don’t mind paying a premium to get the baddest accessory on the range.

  • Loosing the bottom screw to swivel the top adapter, you can adjust to any angle you want. When tighten the bottom screw, the adapter will be secured, which provides you a steady support.
  • With the spring on both legs, you could fold the legs up easily and keeping silent when hunting.
  • 5 settings of leg length. It can be adjusted from 6 inches (152mm)to 9 inches(225mm). Slightly pressing the button, you could adjust the length to meet different needs when hunting.
  • High quality rubber on the bottom of the leg makes the bipods shockproof and antiskid.

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch 360 Degree Swivel bipod is a durable aluminum bipod that’s easy to install.

Key features

  • Picatinny mount
  • 360 degree swivel
  • Spring-loaded legs
  • 5 length settings

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch 360 Degree Swivel Bipod is 6 inches long when fully collapsed, and 9 inches long when fully extended. It also has three settings in between. Adjustment is easy. Simply press the adjustment button on each leg, and slide it in or out to the desired length.

This bipod has a durable anodized aluminum finish and a Picatinny rail mount. Installation is tool-free, thanks to the large knob on the set screw. Be careful. It will not mount on a standard swivel stud. While this bipod swivels 360 degrees, there’s another set screw on the bottom to lock it in place if you’re doing precision target shooting, or just to keep it from swiveling while you open it.

The only thing this bipod is lacking is a pivot function, which makes it difficult to compensate for drop if you’re resting it on a rock or another uneven surface.

Pros

  • Durable finish
  • Push button extension
  • Tool-free installation
  • Set screw to lock swivel function

Cons

  • Does not pivot
  • Does not mount on a swivel stud

This is a well-designed bipod for shooters who want minimal play in their setup.

Features

  • Heavy duty and made of hardened steel and aluminum. With a non rusting black anodized finish.
  • Adjustable leg length (5 settings) with return springs. It fits most situations and requirements. (Leg length range: 6"-9")
  • Compact and light weight. Quickly attach or detach from the rifle using the existing swivel stud.
  • Adjustable height & foldable arms with spring tension.

The Lukher is a heavy-duty bipod that works well with most setups.

Key features

  • Sling stud and Picatinny rail mounts
  • 5 length settings
  • Padded forend rest

The Lukher extends from 6 to 9 inches, with three settings in between at ¾-inch increments. The spring-loaded adjustment buttons make adjustment quick and painless. The bulk of this bipod is engineered from steel for extra strength, but it has a black anodized aluminum finish which makes it rust-proof and difficult to scratch.

This bipod offers a limited range of motion. Lukher doesn’t say how far it swivels, but we’re estimating less than 90 degrees. It also doesn’t pivot, which can make it hard to adjust on uneven surfaces.

That said, the Lukher has a padded forend rest. Combine that with the swivel stud, and you’ve got an ideal bipod for ARs without a rail system. Even if you have fancy wood furniture, it will be safe on this bipod.

Pros

  • Durable finish
  • Steel construction
  • Push button extension

Cons

  • Does not pivot
  • Limited swivel range

This is a great bipod for AR-15 builds that don’t have a rail system.

  • Made of hardened steel and aluminum, non-rust black anodized finish, the rifle bipod is duty and light weight.
  • Adjustable leg length: 5 settings for different length, the bipod is ready to meet your needs.
  • Quickly attach to or detach from the rifle using existing swivel stud.
  • Foldable arms with spring tension control. Come with the mount adapter.

The CVLIFE is another well-designed bipod by CVLIFE.

Key features

  • Sling stud and Picatinny rail mounts
  • 5 length settings
  • Padded forend rest

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch Tactical Bipod measures 6 inches long when fully collapsed, and extends out to 9 inches at ¾-inch intervals. Hold the push buttons in and pull on the legs to extend them, and press it again to collapse them for transport.

This bipod is made from aircraft aluminum, which keeps it strong and lightweight – only 10 ounces. It’s finished with black anodized aluminum for extra scratch resistance. Out of the box, it mounts on a sling stud using the dial on the bottom of the unit, but it ships with a 5-slot Picatinny rail adapter and an Allen key for installation.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t pivot, which makes it best suited for flat surfaces. It also has a limited swivel range, only a few degrees, so you’ll have to reposition it frequently if you’re shooting at multiple targets or a moving target.

Pros

  • Durable finish
  • Aircraft grade aluminum
  • Push button extension
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Does not pivot
  • Limited swivel range

This is a lightweight bipod that can stand up to a lot of abuse.

Features

  • Made of hardened steel and aluminum, non-rust black anodized finish, the rifle bipod is duty and light weight.
  • With the spring on both legs, you could fold the legs up easily and keeping silent when hunting.
  • With integrated design, the tactical bipod is built with the quick release picatinny adapter, which enables you to install and disassemble it from the rifle conveniently and quickly.

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch Quick Release Bipod’s main feature is the quick release tab that makes it a breeze to take on and off.

Key features

  • Picatinny rail mount
  • 5 length settings
  • Quick release mount

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch Quick Release Bipod has the same legs as their 360 Degree Swivel Bipod, including the push button adjustment from 6-9 inches and the anodized aluminum finish. What makes it different is the mounting hardware.

This bipod has a Picatinny rail mount that attaches and releases with a fat plastic tab. This makes it easy not just to mount and unmount, but also to swap from one gun to another. If you take multiple guns to the range, but don’t want to spend a small fortune on multiple bipods, this is a winning feature.

What the Quick Release gives you in ease of installation, it takes away in ease of use. It doesn’t pivot to compensate for uneven ground, but, worse yet, it also doesn’t swivel from side to side. This makes it difficult to set up a shot on a moving target, so consider it a range bipod, not a hunting bipod.

Pros

  • Easy to mount and unmount
  • Durable finish
  • Push button extension

Cons

  • Does not swivel
  • Does not pivot

This is a serviceable bipod that’s easy to mount and unmount.

Features

  • Extends from 6.10" to 6.69"
  • Free swivel stud to picatinny mount adapter included.
  • Designed for easy installation and setup!
  • Heavy Duty made of high quality steel and aluminum
  • Push lock Foldable legs

The CCOP 6 Inch Tactical Bipod is a heavy-duty piece of equipment that won’t fail in the field.

Key features

  • Sling stud and Picatinny rail mounts
  • Leg locking pins for collapsing

The CCOP 6 Inch has a limited height adjustment range. It adjusts from 6 inches to 6.69 inches, which is basically the same as not adjusting at all and makes it impossible to use a high capacity magazine on your AR. It mounts to a Picatinny rail out of the box, and ships with an adapter for mounting it on a sling stud.

On the upside, this bipod is an absolute monster. Its legs are solid steel, not hollow, and have a rust-proof aluminum finish. It also has large locking pins that prevent it from collapsing by accident. This pushes its weight just north of a full pound, but the durability is well worth it if you’re shooting hundreds of rounds at the range.

The CCOP’s solid construction has one more downside: it doesn’t pivot or swivel. You’ll have to reposition it if you’re switching targets.

Pros

  • Steel and aluminum construction
  • Heavy duty
  • Won’t collapse by accident

Cons

  • Limited height adjustment
  • Heavy
  • Does not pivot or swivel

This is a well-engineered, heavy-duty bipod.

The CVLIFE 6-9 Inch Carbon Fiber Bipod is both lighter and tougher than other CVLIFE bipods.

Key features

  • Sling stud and Picatinny rail mounts
  • 5 length settings
  • Carbon fiber construction
  • Built-in sling attach mount

We swear, this is the last CVLIFE bipod you’re going to see. Their line of products is a bit like the AR-15. They’re all similar, but the differences are important. As for what’s the same, that’s simple. The legs have 5 length settings between 6 and 9 inches, and are adjusted using a push-button. This version mounts to a sling stud out of the box and comes with a Picatinny rail mount and Allen key.

Now for the differences. The legs on this bipod are engineered from carbon fiber, which is both stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum. The result is a lightweight, 10-ounce bipod that’s as tough as anything else in the CVLIFE lineup.

What this bipod does not do is pivot to compensate for uneven ground. More importantly, it doesn’t swivel at all, which makes it a pain to use on a moving target. It also costs more than other CVLIFE bipods, but that’s understandable considering the carbon fiber frame.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Durable
  • Push button legs

Cons

  • Does not swivel or pivot
  • Costs more than other CVLIFE 6-9 inch bipods

This is a lightweight bipod that will mount on virtually any AR.

  • 5 height settings
  • Quick mounting knob

The AVAWO has a sturdy steel frame, with lightweight, rust-proof anodized aluminum legs. The legs extend from 6 to 9 inches at ¾-inch intervals when you push the adjustment button and pull on them. Holding the button in will cause them to retract.

This bipod attaches easily to a sling swivel. It has a mounting knob that allows you to attach and remove it in mere seconds, so you can swap it between your AR-15 and your 10/22 without even leaving the shooting bench. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a Picatinny rail mount, so you’ll need to buy one separately if your AR has a rail.

The AVAWO is strictly a range bipod. It doesn’t pivot or swivel at all, which makes it difficult to use at best in a hunting scenario.

Pros

  • Steel frame with aluminum legs
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to attach
  • Push button legs

Cons

  • Does not pivot or swivel
  • Needs adapter for Picatinny mount

This is the best AR bipod if you’re on a budget and don’t have a Picatinny rail.

However, there’s no rail mount adapter, so you’ll need to buy an aftermarket adapter if your AR requires a rail mount.

The Ohuhu doesn’t swivel or pivot, limiting its usefulness outside the range. That said, it’s more affordable than most of the bipods on our list. Considering how durable it is, it’s a good deal.

Pros

  • Aluminum-coated steel construction
  • Durable
  • Easy to attach
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Does not swivel or pivot
  • Screw-tension legs
  • Rail mount adapter not included

This is a solid, affordable AR bipod.

Key features

  • Mounts on sling swivel
  • 5 height settings
  • Quick attach knob
  • Rubber padded forend

The TMS 6-9 Inch Spring Return Bipod has legs that adjust from 6 to 9 inches. The push-button release makes them easy to readjust to all five height settings, and holding it down will cause them to collapse in a snap.

The anodized aluminum construction makes this bipod rust-proof and scratch resistant, but the legs are hollow, with thin walls. They’re steady when fully collapsed, but they have significant wobble when extended. That said, they fold forward or backward, which makes the TMS easy to store.

This bipod has a quick attach knob for mounting it to a sling swivel. Swapping it between guns is easy and quick. However, it doesn’t come with a rail adapter. It also doesn’t pivot or swivel, so it’s really only useful on the range.

  • Legs fold forward or backward

Since it sits up so high, this bipod is perfect for using a high capacity. It swivels 360 degrees, making it useful for hunting. However, it does not pivot to compensate for uneven ground.

The overall construction is of high quality. The base is engineered from hardened steel, while the legs are anodized aluminum. The base is coated with a glossy black finish, making the entire unit scratch and corrosion-resistant.

The Magpul M-LOK is the best bipod on the market for an AR with an M-LOK rail.

Key features

  • Mounts to M-LOK rails
  • 7 height settings
  • Position locking knob

The Magpul M-LOK Bipod is similar to their standard rifle bipod, but it has an M-LOK adapter instead of a basic Magpul mount. It’s also lighter – about 11 ounces – thanks to the polymer legs. Don’t let that fool you, though. It’s still very durable. The push-button legs adjust easily from 5.3 to 10.3 inches, in ½-inch increments.

Like the standard Magpul rifle bipod, this one also pivots 50 degrees, and swivels 40 degrees, letting you hunt any type of game on any type of terrain. It also has a large knob for locking it in position. The only negative thing about it is the price, but you won’t regret your purchase once you hold it in your hands.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • 50 degrees of pivot
  • 40 degrees of swivel
  • Push-button legs

Cons

  • Expensive

Whether you’re hunting or target shooting, this is a top-tier rail.

  • Gag manufactures over 335 products of them proudly made in the USA

The GG&G will stand up to years of abuse and has a lifetime warranty.

Key features

  • Picatinny rail mount
  • Infinite adjustability
  • Tool-free assembly

If you want a bipod that’s tougher than a Mack truck, the GG&G Heavy Duty Bipod is where it’s at. This bipod adjusts from 7 7/8 inches up to 10 ½ inches. It uses a thumb screw for adjustment, which is less convenient than a simple push button. However, it’s more secure, and also doesn’t have any set intervals. You can literally make the legs exactly the right length for comfort.

This anodized aluminum bipod is extremely durable. The Picatinny rail mount can be released with a thumb lever, which means it takes only seconds to mount it or unmount it from your AR. Because it’s meant to be as stable as possible, it doesn’t pivot or swivel, which is disappointing on an otherwise top-tier bipod.

The GG&G is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. It’s also expensive, which is to be expected when you’re buying the best.

Pros

  • Extreme durability and stability
  • Quick mounting and unmounting
  • Made in the USA
  • Lifetime manufacturer’s warranty

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Screw operated legs
  • Does not pivot or swivel

This is the most durable bipod on the market, bar none.

Bottom Line

As you probably noticed, with the exception of the premium-priced models, most of these bipods are remarkably similar. Truth be told, the bipod market has been pretty uniform in recent years. This isn’t a bad thing. Manufacturers have found designs that work well, and are sticking with them.

The main challenge when choosing an AR-15 bipod is finding one that will mount to your particular rifle. Most of the bipods we listed mount on a Picatinny rail, but we made sure to include a couple of swivel mount options and a Magpul option to cover all of our bases. Before you make any purchase, you’ll want to be sure that your bipod has the correct mounting hardware.
