Many coyote hunters prefer to hunt at night. Not only are the animals more active after dark, but they’re less wary. Besides this, night hunting is fun. You may also need a hunting light if you’ve got a varmint problem since critters like rats and raccoons are virtually never out and about in the daytime.

Because this is such a popular activity, we decided to review the best predator hunting lights on the market. In making our choices, we’ve considered brightness, battery life, weight, and quality of price. We’ve tried to cover a broad price range, in order to suit all budgets.

While these varmint hunting lights are useful for shooting anything that moves at night, we’ve focused specifically on coyote hunting lights. The reason for this is that coyotes are some of the hardest animals to hunt. The best light for coyote hunting will also be the best light for hunting just about anything.

  • 2-type flashlight mount: The K185 aluminum mount can be installed in shotguns with Picatinny rail freely; the POM high strength quick-release mount can fit multiple scope sizes, no worry about different gun size.
  • Weather, water and shock resistant: Enhanced aircraft aluminum body designed for rough outdoor use, that is perfect for using in the rain, wild forest, which can be soaked in the water for a short time.

The Odepro KL52Plus features a smooth-operating zoom function that won’t move on its own.

Key Features

  • Up to 800 lumens
  • Up to 450-yard range
  • Zoomable
  • Red, green, white, and infrared LED modules
  • Takes 2 rechargeable batteries
  • Includes scope and rail mounting hardware
  • Pressure switch or push button operation
  • Includes wall charger

The Odepro KL52Plus ships with 4 different, interchangeable LED bulbs in red, green, white, and infrared. Whether you’re hunting coyote, hunting hog, or using a night vision scope, this light has you covered. The white bulb shines at 800 lumens, enough to blind any home intruder. The colored bulbs are a little dimmer, but even the shortest-range red bulb casts a 375-yard beam.

This light’s zoom function requires significant tension to turn, but there’s an upside to this; it won’t drift in either direction while you’re hunting. The only thing we didn’t like was the pressure switch, which requires constant, firm pressure to stay on. This is distracting when you’re trying to draw a bead on a coyote.

Pros

  • Smooth zoom function
  • Great for hunting with an IR scope
  • Also useful for home defense

Cons

  • Pressure switch requires constant pressure

This light is a solid choice for hunting with an IR scope.

Key Features

  • Up to 300 lumens
  • 273-yard range
  • 4 brightness settings
  • Available in red or green
  • Takes 1 rechargeable battery
  • Includes scope, rail, and barrel mounting hardware
  • The pressure switch or push button operation

The Orion 830 is a 300-lumen light that casts a beam up to 273 yards. It’s available in two versions: red or green. In addition to the 300-lumen mode, it can also be set to 190, 50, or 6 lumens. Needless to say, even the “high” setting isn’t as powerful as most of the lights we’ve looked at, but most hunters aren’t trying to bring down a coyote outside of 200 yards anyway.

This light comes with 3 sets of mounting hardware, to attach to your scope, rail, or barrel. No matter what kind of gun you’re using, this light will attach to it. It also includes a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, which we appreciate.

Pros

  • Mounts on any rifle or shotgun
  • 10-year manufacturer’s warranty

Cons

  • Not very bright

This light has 4 different brightness settings for hunting under different conditions and at different ranges.

Key Features

  • Red and green lens filters
  • Takes 2 rechargeable batteries
  • Includes scope and rail mounting hardware

The Nitecore P30 is a blindingly bright, 1,000 lumen light that can illuminate a target as far as 676 yards away. The light itself is white, but it ships with red and green lens filters that can be changed out quickly and easily. However, they significantly dim the light, down to about 200 yards. That’s still far enough for most games, though, and the white light is bright enough to be effective on a home defense gun.

This light uses a custom rechargeable battery and comes with a charger that will plug into your car or your hose. It can be operated with a push button, or by using the pressure switch.

Pros

  • Useful for hunting or home defense
  • Two colors in one light
  • Car and home chargers

Cons

  • Lens filters significantly dim the light

If you want to hunt different types of game with the same light, this is a solid choice.

  • Spotlight or floodlight choice by adjustable the flashlight
  • Single 1 mode, 350 yards long distance
  • Equipped quick release mount and remote pressure switch.
  • High quality aluminum alloy material with O-rings for waterproof and shockproof design
  • Set included: Zoomable flashlight + pressure switch + quick release mount + picatiny mount + 2600mah battery + charger

The Ulako Tactical is an inexpensive light that’s still strong enough to get the job done.

Key Features

  • 350 lumens
  • 300-yard range
  • Zoomable
  • Green light
  • Takes 1 rechargeable battery
  • Includes scope and rail mounting hardware
  • Pressure switch or push button operation
  • Includes wall charger

The Ulako Tactical Flashlight casts a 350-lumen beam up to 300 yards. It takes a rechargeable battery and includes a simple wall charger. The pressure switch and push button are interchangeable, with two separate end caps.

This zoomable light works best when the beam is fully zoomed in. It zooms down to a square shape that’s very intensely focused. It will mount on either your rail or your scope, and the rail mount is a quick-release style for quick mounting and unmounting.

The Ulako Tactical Flashlight is very affordable, and it’s a great value for the money. However, the pressure switch is finicky. It sometimes turns on or off by accident, so use the push button for more reliability.

Pros

  • Tightly focused beam
  • Quick-release rail mount
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Poor quality pressure switch

This tactical flashlight includes a quick-release rail mount for easy attachment and removal.

This is a nice light, but the real star of the show here is the mount. It includes windage and elevation knobs, so never again will you look down your scope and find that the beam isn’t centered in your field of view. The W403IC costs a little more coin than most of the lights we’ve looked at, but you get what you pay for.

This is a durable light that’s extremely affordable. However, it does have a couple of issues. To begin with, it doesn’t include a scope mount, just a rail, and barrel mount. It’s also not adjustable or zoomable. That said, it’s a good value for the money.

Pros

  • Plenty of battery power
  • Affordable

Cons

  • No scope mount
  • Not adjustable or zoomable

This is a basic tactical flashlight that’s good for a hunter on a budget.

  • No Standalone lithium batteries are sold with the product
  • High-impact ABS thermoplastic housing with rubberized cushioned-grip handle
  • Push and hold momentary toggle switch to access 8 Modes of operation
  • High: 100,000 candela peak beam intensity; 180 lumens
  • Low: 45,000 candela peak beam intensity; 80 lumens

The Streamlight Fire Vulcan is a tough-as-nails handheld flashlight.

Key Features

  • 60 or 180 lumens
  • 300-yard range
  • 2 brightness settings
  • White light
  • Internal rechargeable battery pack
  • Heavy-duty handheld flashlight
  • Push-button operation
  • Includes house and car chargers

The Streamlight Fire Vulcan is a handheld floodlight that casts a 300-yard beam. Its brightness is adjustable between 60 and 180 lumens, and the lens is well focused enough that it actually seems significantly brighter. It features a durable polymer body with a comfortable, rubberized grip. The battery is internal, and the included charger will plug into your home or your car.

Unfortunately, this light is white, so it’s more likely to spook a predator than red or green light. It’s also handheld, which means you won’t be able to handle your gun at the same time. On the other hand, this is a good choice if you’re hunting with a partner.

Pros

  • Durable and easy to use
  • Ergonomic rubberized grip
  • Lifetime manufacturer’s warranty

Cons

  • White light
  • Handheld

This hunting flashlight is a good choice if you’re night hunting with a friend.

Features

  • Quality optics with stunning HD clarity
  • 100% quality materials used and tested extensively
  • Beautiful design and durability built to last
  • 173 Lumens plus 209L boost feature
  • Dual output: spot for long range, flood for wide proximity

The Bushnell Rubicon is a high-quality headlight for hunting and camping.

Key Features

  • Up to 209 lumens
  • 150-yard range
  • Narrow spot mode and wide flood mode
  • Bright white light with low-light red mode
  • Takes 3 AA batteries
  • Headlight
  • Push-button operation

The Bushnell Rubicon is an oddball on our list because it doesn’t mount on your gun; you wear it on your head. This is a good choice if you’re hiking or camping while you’re hunting and want to carry as little weight as possible. It has a narrow spotlight mode and a wide floodlight mode and also has a red mode that’s very low-light.

The downside? You can’t hunt with the red light, so you’ll be limited to hunting with a white beam. This light is also not as bright as most hunting lights. That said, it still lets you shoot up to 150 yards, and it’s very affordable.

Pros

  • Keeps your hands free
  • Also useful for hiking and camping
  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Not very bright
  • White light

If you’re looking for a hunting headlight, this is a solid choice.

  • 700 lumens
  • 500-yard range
  • Zoomable
  • Available in 5 color combinations
  • Takes 2 rechargeable batteries
  • Includes scope and rail mounting hardware
  • Pressure switch and push-button operation
  • Includes home and car chargers

This light comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and a charger that will plug into a home or car outlet. It also includes both a pressure switch and a push button, so you can operate it in whatever fashion you like. It’s expensive, but you’ve got to pay top dollar if you want to get top quality.

Pros

  • Bright
  • Good for both hunting and home defense
  • Multiple colors in one light
  • Car and home chargers

Cons

  • Pricey

This light allows you to switch between different color lights for hunting different prey.

Bottom Line

Before we finish, we should address one controversy that has been running strong among night hunters for years: whether a red light or a green light is better. Here’s a quick breakdown.

Red lights are nearly invisible to coyotes. They don’t perceive it as a threat, so you can light them up without scaring them off. Red light also makes green foliage appear black, providing a higher contrast when it hits a coyote’s tawny fur.

That said, green lights have their own advantages: they’re easier for humans to see, and they’re almost invisible to wild hogs. If you find that the red light isn’t giving you enough visibility, a green light may be in order. Just make sure you’re ready to shoot the second you see a coyote.

We hope our predator hunting lights reviews were helpful. No matter what your needs are, at least one of these options is going to be perfect for taking your night hunting to the next level.
